“Neon Roy” is a specific heater for the processing of neon and cold cathodes. Using the 'flux concentration' technique, the output head offers the coveted open coil that lamp manufacturers want. The gap is adjustable and can accommodate electrodes from 10mm to the big 250mA, 19mm cold cathode electrodes. Heating time takes about 5 seconds, irrespective of shell size.
The Neon Roy flux concentrator is made of a special ferrite material that shapes the magnetic field (flux), such that the object that is placed in the gap completes the magnetic path and thus heats. Because the field is so concentrated, an enormous amount of flux passes through the work piece, causing very fast heating.
The head itself weighs about 1 pound, and is ergonomically shaped into a pistol grip housing. It comes with a trigger push button switch and connects to the base unit via a 5 foot long umbilical.
The flux concentrator head behaves very differently when objects other than what it's intended for are heated. This is optimized for neon and cold cathode use--heating anything else will likely cause an overload. The Neon Roy is for neon and cold cathode ONLY!
